Past Weeks Preview

Where to begin? My last few weeks have been a whirlwind of adventure and LOTS of photography. I think I’ve taken over 1,000 photos since May and have had little to no time to review them for posting here. I really need to improve upon that for myself and for my viewers who are always asking about what I’ve photographed lately.

To stem the tide… here is a small post with a few photos from each event I captured in the 3 weeks or so:

Me and My Pals in NY: In June I vacationed in NY, NJ and PA with friends from London

The Crew: Gaurav, Gareth, Ryan and James

The colors really do scream, “happy.”

Makes me wonder what the clothing would be like if the parade was held in the winter

Harlem, NY – Apollo Tribute for MJ

I visited the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY two days after Michael Jackson died.

Philadelphia: Police Cruiser Crash

I was leaving the National Mechanics restaurant in Old City and when I approached 5th & Market Streets, it was blocked. I saw police cars and fire engines so I parked on 5th and walked down with my camera.

On March 24, 2009 a police cruiser collided with a VW Passat driven by an 18yo female on 7th and Market Sts in Philadelphia PA. This is the aftermath. News coverage from FOX29

I got there after they used the jaws of life to get the drivers-side door of the police cruiser off. There was a small crowd remaining when I got there. People were speculating on what happened. Immediately, blame went to the police officer. I offered my thoughts to a police officer and well wishes for the injured officer. Their job is so risky it’s a wonder things like this aren’t more commonplace.

Sk8 Patrick’s Day

Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Philly St. Patricks Day Bar Crawl (by Vincent J. Brown)

Or rather, “Sk8 Patrick’s Day,” as the title eludes. is what I call the photo walkabout that Melody Kramer (her photos) and I embarked on this past Saturday, March 14, 2009.

The day started out like any other… lazy Saturday, no plans. Everything was normal and dull until Melody reached out across the the Twitterverse for some companionship on a photowalk through the city of Philadelphia. I obliged and met her in Center City.

Started walking towards City Hall where we ran into St. Patrick himself

We took the shortcut through City Hall where we came upon the skaters (don’t call them Sk8ers).

We moved on from City Hall to the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul where Melody snapped these great photos inside. We left there after a brief walk through, I didn’t take any photos. We met the “tour guide” who confessed to us that he’d only been on the job for 2 hours. His name was Dan, look him up at the Cathedral and tell him Melody and Vince sent ya *wink*

We had lunch at TGIFridays on the Parkway and watched as many a drunk bar crawler stumbled by our window seat. Stepped out side and found the green scene:

These were taken on the Saturday BEFORE St. Patrick’s day.

Melody and I walked over to LOVE Park, world renown skateboard park in Philadelphia, PA:

Then, I said goodbye to Melody.

2009 Philadelphia International Auto Show

Saturday, Feb. 07 2009 I attended the Pennsylvania Convention Center for this years Philadelphia International Auto Show. On display were 2009 car models from all of the top makers. Personally, I own a Scion (which is a Toyota brand), but I’m always excited by what the automotive industry, as a whole, has to offer.

My friend James Bardolph suggested instead of photographing the cars I should photograph the people at the event and their reactions. That is what I tried to do with this set. Clicking the image above will take you to the photo set on Flickr. Alternately, you can view the photos on my new photoblog, www.Philadelph.com
