Watchmen

Watchmen Promo Event (by Vincent J. Brown)

Watchmen promo event at Brave New Worlds in Philadelphia, PA

Friday night I went to the 9:45p screening of the highly anticipated graphic novel-turn-movieWatchmen (2009)” with friends. One thing, if you see the movie this weekend, get there early enough to ensure your crew can sit together.

All things considered, I enjoyed the movie immensely. We saw it in an IMAX theater at the AMC Loews 24 in Cherry Hill, NJ. Very small theater despite being IMAX. I’m used to bigger screens and better seating at the Neshaminy AMC theater. Despite the movie being 3 hours long, it didn’t feel like it. Sure your body gets tired from prolong sitting, but my mind never wandered. I was always deep into the film. There are a lot of great visuals, subplots and psychological twists in the film to keep you engaged. At times, it can be a little campy and corny, but let’s face it, it takes place in the 80′s!

My critical review of this movie in 3 words: It was good. You definitely don’t want to be the only one in your crew who hasn’t seen it THIS weekend.

SPOILER: There's a lot of PENIS in the movie. You'll see.

2009 Philadelphia International Auto Show

Saturday, Feb. 07 2009 I attended the Pennsylvania Convention Center for this years Philadelphia International Auto Show. On display were 2009 car models from all of the top makers. Personally, I own a Scion (which is a Toyota brand), but I’m always excited by what the automotive industry, as a whole, has to offer.

My friend James Bardolph suggested instead of photographing the cars I should photograph the people at the event and their reactions. That is what I tried to do with this set. Clicking the image above will take you to the photo set on Flickr. Alternately, you can view the photos on my new photoblog, www.Philadelph.com

Presenting: Philadelph.com

Hey loyal visitors and those passing through. I want to apologize for not being faithful to this blog by updating it regularly. At least, I don’t think I update this enough. I don’t have much new to report, other than I’ve sold a few photos since my last post and I’ve met a LOT of great, local photographers in Philadelphia, PA.

The last part of the first paragraph is what has spurred me to embark on a new project, called Philadelph.com – The website will focus exclusively on my photography of my hometown city of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It’s run on the Tumblr micro-blogging service. The photos presented there are culled automatically from my photostream on Flickr.com

Geeks Who Give is an organized event of Philadelphia’s tech and creative scenes to give back to needy charities and the communities around us. The first event was held at the National Mechanics bar and restaurant in Old City, Philadelphia PA. Many many boxes and bags of non-perishable food items were collected for Philabundance.

Get in touch with both Geeks Who Give (on Twitter) and National Mechanics (on Twitter) for up to date event information, the next Tweetup and a good time (tee-hee).
