Download it. Burn it. Share it: Laffy Taffy Rots Your Teeth

I don’t usually do this (ut oh..), but I want to recommend an album to all of you:

Wordsmith Free Speech and beatsmith Ro Blvd responsibly present “Laffy Taffy Rots Your Teeth,” a collection of 10 groundbreaking tracks that buck industry buffoonery with a freshness that guarantees jaw drops and violent head nods. Commercial rap has patronized hip-hop culture with endorsements of black face and buffoonery for far too long!

I wholeheartedly agree with where these two artists are coming from. As a longtime patron of hip-hop/rap, I share their frustration with the “black face” antics and buffoonery in mainstream black music. These ten tracks contain a special message for those who eagerly consume mainstream music without being justly critical of it.

Deviously Artistic, Opens

A website “DeviouslyArtistic.com” has been created by deviantART.com co-founder Scott “Jark” Jarkoff and run by Rich (aka deviot), Matt (aka matteo) and a team of others. The thought that brought this website into being was the need for exposure of artwork and artists that are getting lost in the rapidly increasing membership at deviantART.com. On a daily basis, fantastic works of art are going unnoticed, much to the detriment and concern of art appreciators like those who run Deviously Artistic [and keep it breathing with a breathe of fresh art, daily].

Welcome to the “soft launch” of Deviously Artistic. Our goal here is quite simple: feature art and deviants that are located on deviantART.

We have a small, tight-knit group of artists on the Deviously Artistic team that love to browse deviantART aimlessly and always wanted the opportunity to feature art that they believe deserves more exposure. Considering how many submissions there are to deviantART on a daily basis it is well known that a lot of art goes unnoticed. With our simple plan, we intend to change that!

In order to help people stay abreast of the latest features Deviously Artistic offers a number of RSS feeds available for your subscription pleasure. Simply fire up your favorite feed reader, such as Bloglines, FeedDemon or NetNewsWire, or any of the others floating around on the web, and add the feeds that interest you the most. As soon as new features are made by the team you will be notified rather than having to check a “features page” every couple of hours.

We sincerely hope that everyone enjoys the beautiful simplicity of Deviously Artistic. The whole reason for our existence is to feature art and deviants that are located on deviantART without the interruption of a busy site interface or other distracting features.

Enjoy Deviously Artistic for what it really is; a site that is dedicated to the love of art!

As a Team Member of Deviously Artistic, I, Vince (aka attila), bring to it a long history of working with artists and art groups from my days as a member (since Aug. 2000), the Asst. Marketing Director and assorted website administrator at deviantART.com. My love for art, and the art/design community fuel my passion to keep Deviously Artistic fresh, each day, with remarkable works of art from under-exposed artists.

TShirt Hell’s “Worse Than Hell” Section Taken Down

Excerpt from [05/03/2005 Newsletter]My name is Aaron Schwarz and I own T-Shirt Hell. Because of that, I can do whatever the fuck I want. I woke up one morning and decided I didn’t want to have a, “Worse Than Hell” section, so I took it down. We always said there was no line we wouldn’t cross, but even then there really was still a line. There were always subjects we wouldn’t touch. So now we’ve moved the line. Sometimes people grow, and change, and gain perspective. There are some shirts we just don’t feel comfortable making and we’re not going to make them any more. Those are the shirts we took down.

Update: It’s been brought back, by popular demand!

From August 2000 to March 2003 (after which I took a 15 month hiatus from the Internet), I have volunteered a lot of my time at deviantART, Inc., as the Assistant Marketing Director. This particular job necessitated; advanced computer operational skills, excellent communication, salesmanship, and marketing ability. I was also responsible fascilitating healthy relationships between software developers, other website owners, community leaders, and deviantART, Inc., for the purpose of providing mutually beneficial services to all parties.
