Two Great “Daily Show” Clips

Philadelphia recently got a dubious shout-out in the fake news, Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Monday night. Correspondent Rob Riggle reports on the Bush Administration’s “progress” post-9/11. Towards the end, Rob Riggle drops a reference to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s increasing violence. Watch the first one, first, obviously. Bastards of the Party on HBO

I watched this last night on HBO and it was amazing. Most of the information about the Black Panther Party I had already learned from reading the Huey P. Newton Reader, but this film puts everything in perspective from a historical and psycho-social standpoint.

Bastards of the Party traces the history of Los Angeles’ Blood and Crip gangs, the circumstances that contributed to their formation and what contributed to their prevalence. Directed by Cle “Bone” Sloan
