The Cameraman

Mirror reflection, Eastern State Penitentiary, September 2007
Here are some recent photo sets I’ve uploaded to Flickr.com:
Eastern State Penitentiary Tour (96 photos): Photos I made while touring the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, PA on September 28, 2007 with my friend Charley. Eastern State Penitentiary was the world’s first true "Penitentiary" in that it was designed to inspire penitence in the hearts of criminals. The prison stands today in ruin.
Photowalk: Art Museum / Water Works (28 photos): Took a walk one Wednesday afternoon around the Art Museum and Philadelphia Water Works area. Snapped off a couple of shots as well.
SugarHouse Casino Protest (28 photos): September 10th peaceful protest of the SugarHouse Casino coming to the Delaware River Waterfront.
Campbell’s Field: Riversharks vs. Patriots (23 photos): Company outing at Campbell’s Field to watch the Camden Riversharks. It rained so the camera went off during the rain delay. I regret not taking pictures of that chaotic scene. www.riversharks.com/campbellsfield.cfm
iPod Touch’d
So, by now, if you know me - You’re probably already sick of me AND my new iPod. That’s right, I bought the new iPod Touch. Based on reviews of the new crop of iPod’s, I made the plunge. Actually, I was very much conflicted about what to buy. On one hand, I wanted to upgrade my cellphone from my current Motorola SLVR. On the other hand, I wanted to upgrade my puny 4GB iPod Nano to a media player that would hold a more substantial amount. Bear in mind, my entire music collection is nearly 200GB (about the size of a standard harddrive that might come with a new computer these days). Imagine filling that up with nothing but music (most of it carefully categorized by: Artist/(Year) Album).
But I digress. I could have settled both needs with the Apple iPhone (review) - but based on reviews and some slick marketing antics played by Apple this early in the products life, I decided wholeheartedly against it, for now. The only option left in the new crop of iPods that quelled my thirst for geek points was the iPod Touch. Neither the iPod Classic or new iPod Nano had touch screen capabilities, nor could they access WiFi networks like the Touch.
As you can see in the picture above, it displays web sites beautifully in its built-in Safari web browser. I’m accessing Google.com from an unsecured Linksys router on someone’s network FROM THE PHILADELPHIA MUSEUM OF ART. I’ll report back with my own pro’s/con’s of the iPod Touch later in the week.

My Photos Around the Web
So recently I stumbled upon some neat tools online, one in particular (FlickrDNA) that tells me who has been linking back to my photos on various websites and blogs. Since about 2004 I’ve been submitting my photos to Flickr.com, the best online photo management and sharing application in the world, where people all over the world can view the world I see through my cameras viewfinder. Through this medium, I give people a restricted license through Creative Commons - to share without alteration and proper credit given, my photos. It’s been interesting to see who’s used my photos to accompany their online writings. Here, I’ll list a few of those for you:

Philadelphia’s SugarHouse Casino Protest
SugarHouse Opposition

My favorite shot of the day: This woman protests the SugarHouse Casino and it’s eventual placement in Fishtown, on the Delaware River waterfront (on Delaware Avenue).
Thanks to the reporting of Phillyist and PhillyBlog I was able to make it out to photograph the peaceful event. What event? The protest of SugarHouse Casino slated to be built on the Delaware River waterfront in Northern Liberties / Fishtown.

Technosailor Self Importance Test
You are most like Chris Pirillo!
You are most like Chris Pirillo. You dominate your brand and do quite well in marketing it. However, you go out of the way to place the focus on other people as much as possible as a decision on power and authority. You may have many followers, readers or fans but you rarely let this distract you from your mission and focus.
