Janise; Portrait by Night
An impromptu photo of my friend Janise, taken recently. Hopped out of my car on the side of West River Drive in Philadelphia across from Boat House Row. The evening began with a comedy show @ the Khyber by Three Man Show where my co-workers Don Montrey and Eoin O’Shea put on 1 hour Philly Fringe smackdown.
After that, we walked over to Chestnut street to club Dreemz for some good food, music and people.
Tupac: The life. The legend. The legacy
Tupac Shakur: To Live and Die by ~daydreaming on deviantART
Some people are haunted by the moment JFK was shot in Dallas in 1963. Others remember the shock of John Lennon’s 1980 killing in New York. For the hip-hop generation, though, there is only one iconic figure, Tupac Shakur, and one iconic moment, when he was gunned down in Las Vegas at the height of his notoriety and commercial success 10 years ago.
Stewart/Colbert ‘08 T-Shirt for Sale!
If “Vote or Die” were real legislation, can you imagine how lazy you would have to be to still not get around to registering? Show your support for the fake news party with this awesome Stewart/Colbert ‘08 T-Shirt ($18).
I’m picking up one of these novelty tees, as they’re much better than the other designs that have been floating around on some other sites. Vote for ‘fake news’ in ‘08!
Write Katie Couric’s ‘Sign Off’ for the CBS Evening News
One of the questions everyone asks a new anchor is, “What’s your sign off, going to be?” Walter Cronkite had the most famous nightly farewell, “And that’s the way it is.” Edward R. Murrow used, “Good night and good luck.” Katie thinks maybe you folks on the other side of the screen might have some good ideas for what her own sign-off should be.
Right off the top of my head, I’m thinking:
“And from all of us here at CBS Evening News, get your colon cleansed, neuter your pets, and wax your legs. God bless.”
or
“From all of us here at CBS Evening News, I’m Katie Couric. Please stay tuned for the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”
Can you imagine.. the Daily Show on a major network following the world news?
