Obligatory Post-Oscar Blog Post
Yes, it’s over, the 77th Annual Academy Awards (hosted by the unjustly labeled controversial, Chris Rock) has come to an end, so let me do what about 100,000 other, more prominent bloggers are scrambling to do. It’s time to wrap up what exactly took place at the Oscar’s. The weird part of this is, I just watched it, and I don’t even remember who won what. I won’t bore you, the only awards that matter and the winners are…
- Actor in a Supporting Role: Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby)
- Animated Feature Film: The Incredibles (Brad Bird)
- Actress in a Supporting Role: Cate Blanchett (The Aviator)
- Documentary Feature: Born in Brothels (Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski)
- Visual Effects: Spider-man 2 (John Dykstra, Scott Stokdyk, Anthony LaMolinara and John Frazier)
- Cinematography: The Aviator (Robert Richardson)
- Actress in a Leading Role: Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby)
- Actor in a Leading Role: Jamie Foxx (Ray)
- Directing: Million Dollar Baby (Clint Eastwood)
- Best Picture: Million Dollar Baby (Clint Eastwood, Albert S. Ruddy and Tom Rosenberg)
Most notable of these wins was of course for Best Actor in a Leading Role which was one by the multi-talented Jamie Foxx. He was the favorite going in and sure enough, he won, but for me it was a little unnerving seeing The Aviator win so many of the “technical” awards, because I thought that was going to sure them up for the Best Actor nod going to Leonardo DiCaprio. But, my man won, congratulations to Jamie Foxx and everyone involved in the making of the movie Ray. I thorougly enjoyed the movie and I oddly enough, enjoyed this years Academy Awards presentation.
Chris Rock, was the most consistently entertaining host I’ve seen in my years of watching the awards show. Of course, I can’t forget the great performances by Beyonce Knowles (Carter?). Oh well, that sums up my half-assed obligatory post-oscar blog post. I hope you enjoyed it, see you next year.
